Universal Postal Union: ‘Palestine has right for direct postal exchange with the world’
BERN, February 29, 2020 (WAFA) -The Universal Postal Union (UPU), a United Nations organization, has adopted in its meeting in Bern, Switzerland, on Thursday a resolution recognizing Palestine’s right for direct postal exchange with the world through Jordan without any restrictions and to be reimbursed for fees Israel has been collecting on the Palestinian postal service since 1995.
All mail to occupied Palestinian territories goes through Israel, which often holds it for years before its delivers it demanding from the Palestinian Authority thousands of dollars in service fees.
The UPU resolution also supports projects for the development of Palestine’s postal services.
