Yossi Dagan in News 12

What good is the IDF to us if it can’t carry out a pogrom?

A few hours after the tweet, about 350 Jewish terrorists tried to implement it through a pogrom in Hawara. ■ They rioted mainly because of the fascistic, illegal, inhumane, and immoral call to eradicate a Palestinian village with no pity. To commit atrocities upon its residents.

Relax. Why are you getting so worked up? Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, with a smile and good spirits, wishes to clear up the very unfortunate misunderstanding following a tweet by his deputy, Davidi Ben-Zion. The same tweet liked by minister of defence, Bezalel Smotrich. Firstly, Dagan wishes to note that his deputy also serves as a reserve IDF Deputy Battalion Commander six months out of the year, and so he often jokes that Ben-Zion doesn’t work for him but for the Chief of Staff!

Dagan seems pleased with his joke. As though to say his deputy loves the IDF, and when he tweeted that “Hawara needs to be erased and today… and there’s no room for pity”, he certainly didn’t mean to hint that the IDF can’t eradicate villages on its own, and that it need not prod another entity to do so. Goodness no. He would never offend the IDF. In any case, people just didn’t get it. A few hours after the tweet, about 350 Jewish terrorists tried to implement it through a pogrom in Hawara. They didn’t get it either. Then there was a big outrage. Why should an entire village be eradicated without pity? What is this — fascism??

No way, Dagan refrained. He wants to make it clear. To put things straight. The intention was completely different. Obviously, his deputy didn’t mean that “people should take the law into their own hands”. No! That’s not their way! Their way is ‘building the land of Israel, loving the Jewish people.” God forbid settler terrorists should have to eradicate Hawara. The government should do it. That’s what the public didn’t understand. To eradicate Hawara? Yes, obviously. But people shouldn’t take the law into their own hands. The government should carry out the eradication. The State itself has to be a State of Terror.

“The landlord has to be the one to go crazy!” Dagan explained. The madness of the pogrom — okay. A pogrom — okay. But what good is an army to us if it can’t carry out the pogrom? “The landlord must go crazy before Ramadan”, Dagan insisted. “Give them double dose”, he added. Is that clear enough? It’s not the tenants that need to go mad, but the landlord. That’s the crucial difference. Admit it: that clears everything up for you.

Dagan doesn’t understand that the rioters didn’t riot because it’s a call to take the law into one’s own hands. That’s the secondary factor. They rioted mainly because of the fascistic, illegal, inhumane, and immoral call to eradicate a village with no pity. To commit atrocities upon its residents. It is far more infuriating and critical if the state were to do this as its official policy, as a legal IDF operation. This is a crime against humanity. A State that erases villages is Putin’s Russia. Saddam’s Iraq. Dagan is dreaming of such a country, whose landlord has gone mad.
